2019 Bodega Estancia Los Cardones "Anko" Malbec
91 PTS- James Suckling
Anko means "High water," in the native Indian language of Salta, located in the northwest corner of Argentina.
From the high desert oasis of Salta, Argentina comes this savory Malbec. The very intense sunshine at 5,700 feet elevation produces concentrated dark fruit flavors. The cold Andean nights lend floral and sweet spice aromatics. The stony soil profile provides excellent structure.
Tasting Notes: Some dried strawberry, with savory, wet-earth and toasty-oak character. Very sturdy, ambitious tannin structure on the palate. The flavors fade away slightly, though in a very nice way.
